Lupe Fiasco - The Cool

Kanye who? Graduation had some sick beats but anyone who knows shit about hip hop knows Kanye's flow is reminiscent of a black doctor Seuss just out of the dentists with mad Novocaine. Alright it's not so bad, I really like the first two records but that's besides the point. Lupe Fiasco is a dude with ill flow and nasty narratives that could rhyme octagons around most of the shit comin' out of the mainstream, and with this new record i'm sold as a lifelong fan. Here we got a darker feel all around, soulful hooks, much less boasting, and just a more solid experience. Bump it on your block.

Led Zeppelin - The Song Remains The Same

The movie "The Song Remains The Same" blew my head.  It was my doorway to Led Zeppelin, and the soundtrack is undoubtedly one of my favorite Led Records.  Favorite tracks are "Since I Been Lovin' You" and "Rain Song".  Additionally the part where Jimmy breaks out the bow is nasty as hell.  I'd recommend seeing the movie first if you haven't already.  The dream sequences are terrifically tripped out and just amazing to watch.  

Jimmy Page's and Robert Plant's dreams are my favorites.  Enjoy.

Beth Gibbons & Rustin Man - Out Of Season

Lead Singer of Portishead and Paul Webb (Rustin Man) who used to rock bass in Talk Talk.  This record is utterly beautiful.  Each song has this feel like the world is going to end as soon as the song does and this is the sweetest goodbye you could listen to.  Mad organic, mad soulful.  My favorite tracks are "Mysteries", and "Show".  I've said before that Beth Gibbons is one of my favorite vocalists.  She has the ability to completely jazz out her voice depending on the style of the song.  Is she singing through a sax patch on "Show"? Nah.  A Nice afternoon listen is sure to be followed by a soothed out evening.

Souls Of Mischief - '93 'til Infinity

Where do i begin?  Four of the illest emcees i've ever heard straight out of the early nineties west coast hip hip atmosphere.  If you're a fan of A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, or Freestyle Fellowship you'll buck wild for this record.  Founder of the Hieroglyphics Del Tha Funkee Homosapien  spits a chorus on "Limitations".  Really though, two of my favorite hip hop tracks came out of this album.  "Never No More" features a funky horn line behind a heavy beat, and mastermind Phesto flows a nasty second verse.  "'93 'til Infinity" was Soul's best selling single.  This A-Plus production comes out groovy with Tajai spittin' a narrative. The beat drops on the bass line like a brick of concrete strapped with a tambo.  Easily one of the greatest most classic beats ever.  Play it Loud.
